I am a multi-award-winning Transdisciplinary Auteur currently based in New York and Miami. Born in Porto, Portugal, I hold a Classical Piano Degree from Porto National Conservatory, a Double Bachelor's Degree in Piano and Jazz Performance from ESMAE-IPP, a Double Master Degree in Piano and Jazz Performance from the New York University, and am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Miami as a Teaching Assistant and Henry Mancini Fellow. As a pianist/keyboardist, I have performed on prominent stages and festivals throughout Europe, North and South America, and Africa with some of the leading artists of the Jazz, Experimental, New Music, World Music, and Contemporary Classical scene. Since 2011 I have participated in more than 25 recordings (Guitar Sapiens, Moth To A Flame, On The Crosswalk, Under The Sun, New Ground, and Irrefragible Laws, to mention a few) and released six recordings as a co-leader/pianist/composer/producer under the New York-based label W&J Productions: Breathing Taiwan, EARPRINTS, Distance Chemistry, Poetics Of Sight, QaraBag, and DESCRIPTIONS OF USELESS SUBTITLES AND MEANINGFUL SUBLIMATIONS. I am presently preparing the release of seven new projects in several artistic areas of inquiry. I have also collaborated with renowned artists such as Beatriz Albuquerque, Joana Ricou, P.ma, Pedro Marnoto, André da Loba, Ondjaki, José Alberto Gomes, Ralph Alessi, and Sigrún Heins. My artistic research centers on the areas of music performance, poetry, photography, film, web design, critical improvisation studies, extended techniques, electronics, and sound design. I have created music for more than ten short-films and documentaries, lectured extensively on improvisation and experimental techniques, and collaborated on numerous multi-disciplinary projects around the world.
